Chase Allen graduated with a degree in business, taking on a job that was not inspiring or meaningful for his ideal vision of life. A permanent resident of Daufuskie, Chase decided to quit his job and head full force on his dream: sustaining himself economically through creating sea-inspired metal sculptures. He called it the Iron Fish Gallery, and his finished works of art include mermaids, sea turtles, crabs, and fish that people can buy to take a piece of Daufuskie home with them.The best part about Chase’s business is that it runs on an honor code system. If Chase isn’t around to collect your payment, you write your contact information down on a piece of paper and he will reach out to you later.
This artwork is the embodiment of the simple and humbling lifestyle of Daufuskie Island. The Community, kindness, and the little things on Daufuskie are what inspires artists like Chase to continue doing what they love.
